Rising Port of Incheon seeks opportunities in South China
South Korea 's Port of Incheon recently put on a harbour promotion demonstration to seek co-operation at the First China International Logistics Exhibition held in Shenzhen in June.
Incheon is part of the northeast Asia 's Yellow Sea Rim Economic Circle and will become an international hub when more shipping services call on the back of a booming Chinese economy and rising shipping volumes, said an official of the Incheon Port Authority.
Incheon, with 84 berths, is now the gateway of South Korea 's Capital Economic Circle, with a population accounting for 46 per cent in South Korea 's total. The port handled 130 million tons of cargo in 2006 and its container volume grew by 19 per cent to 1.3 million TEU during the year.
