Problems faced at EDK Port – Merghem Bonded Warehouse in Egypt

Egypt’s El Dekheila (EDK) Port has issued new instructions according to which, they prohibit storage outside of their terminal (i.e. any container that discharges at EDK Port must not store at Merghem) because they have found their warehouse losing a good part of the LCL business. At present, there are two major companies who are using their own CFS outside the port as a result EDK issued this instruction to protect their interest. At such, our Egypt office request assistance from all agents and offices to stop using EDK as the discharging port and use either Alexandria or Alexandria International Container Terminals (AICT) instead.
